News about any terrorist attack in any corner of the world gives a spine-chilling effect. Terrorism is spread all around the world. Terrorists do not see themselves as evil. They believe they are legitimate combatants, fighting for what they believe in, by whatever means possible to attain their goals. A victim of a terrorist act sees the terrorist as a criminal with no regard for human life. Europe has had a history of random terrorist acts, but today Europeans
fear the financial crisis more than they fear terrorism. Terrorism in India, according to the Home Ministry, poses a significant threat to the country. Mumbai has been the most preferred target for most terrorist organizations, primarily the separatist forces from neighboring countries.
In 2007 there were bomb blasts in Hyderabad, two bombs exploded almost simultaneously on 25th August. The first bomb exploded in Lumbini Amusement Park known for its Laser shows. The second bomb exploded five minutes later at Gokul Chat Bhandar, a very busy food joint in a crowded market. My family and some of my friends were at a theatre watching movie and suddenly the news of bomb blast spread all over and there was kind of a stampede at the theatre with people rushing to get out of the theatre as soon as possible fearing more blasts. We managed to get home safely and spent the rest of the night watching the news and checking with friends if everyone was safe.
Let me tell you no country can be considered safe in these days. Terrorism is spreading fast. Recently when we heard of bomb blasts again in Hyderabad on 21st February 2013, it reminded us of the 2007 blasts and devastation it caused. At least 17 people have been killed and 119 injured in twin bombings that authorities believe may have been a terrorist attack. The bombs exploded in Dilsukhnagar, a crowded Shopping Area, within 100 meters (330 ft.) of each other The first explosion occurred outside a roadside eatery named A1 Mirchi center besides Anand Tiffin Centre and opposite Konark movie hall, followed by the second one two minutes later near the Route 107 bus stand close to the Venkatadri theatre.
Two days before the blasts, national intelligence sources warned that there may be terrorist activity in Hyderabad, as well as other cities in India including Bangalore and Coimbatore, the Home Ministry reported Friday. Despite having this information nothing could be done to avoid this situation. In this modern age where there is so much stress, natural calamities and added to all these the terrorist attacks causes a lot of misery and pain to our lives.
