Tech goes MINI

Gadget Gurus around the World have tried hard for years to find an equivalent of the Moore's Law for gadgets like smart phones and tablets but failed repetitively. And going by the recent announcements it’s not difficult to conclude that the rules of this sector of smart phones and tablets are going to set by innovation and technological advancements, Laws can go take a walk. As of now, MINI seems to be the big word as companies fight for their share of the market. 

Samsung which till recently took pride in showing off the big screens of Galaxy S III, its best selling smart phone, has surprised us all with the launch of display Galaxy S III mini. Besides other differences (read inferiorities), the mini variant has a smaller 4-inch screen, similar to an iPhone. So if you despised the S III due to its big screen and lauded Apple for their more easy-to-hold human design, this one is for you, to consider. What Samsung is trying to do to Apple in smart phones is exactly what Apple is trying to do to the likes of Amazon and Google (nexus) in tablets. Apple has announced that they will be unveiling the new iPad Mini on 23rd of this month. And this mini is indeed a big turnaround in Apple's philosophy. Years ago Steve Jobs famously said that the 7 inch tablets were soon going to be dead. But successes of devices like Amazon Kindle HD and Google Nexus 7 have finally made Apple eat their own words. And eat it so well that they expect to sell 10 millions of it pretty soon.

Next in line is the launch of Microsoft's Surface tablets. But that is going to be a different story. For now let’s wait for 23rd.
