Yes, it is Pizza that I am going to blog about. America and especially New York has a Pizza joint in every nook and corner and few of them are mind-blowing-ly yum.  So in the ocean of pizzeria, how to decide which ones are a must try.

Pizza was brought to India by one of the chain restaurants – Pizza Hut, Domino’s or US Pizza sometime in 90s and grew popular gradually. I think the best selling Pizzas in India are currently Pizza Hut and Domino’s. I know few restaurants actually serve wood-fire/brick oven pizzas and they are extremely different from the ones sold at the chain restaurants. That was Pizzzzah in India. 

These chains exist in the US too but there are better places to try your Pizza. Though Pizza is from Italy, it is the staple food for most of the Americans. The first Pizza restaurant started right here in Manhattan at Lombardi’s where they started selling Pizza by the slice not by the pie. It is now popularly known as New York style Pizza, where the slice is wide and the crust is thin and most often folded and eaten. 

That was a little tidbit on Pizza. Now, where to eat… you should definitely try Lombardi’s at Spring St. Then there is John’s Pizzeria on Bleecker St which is an old popular joint. And ya, these places don’t serve chicken pizzas; you can create your own vegetarian pizza with select toppings.

Then there are many other pizza places. For instance, my husband is all raves about Frank’s Pizza on 23rd and Lexignton Ave. I personally like California Pizza Kitchen. It is a chain restaurant but way different from the likes of Pizza Hut. Another chain restaurant that serves amazing pizza is Numero Uno. No matter where you trying your American Pizza, you should for sure try these three types of crusts or Pizzas – ‘Sicilian pie’,  ‘Brick-oven Pizza‘ and ‘Chicago-style deep dish’. The best thing to do is yelp for Pizza’s in your area. You never know what the pizzeria in your block is baking!
