Just when life is returning to normalcy, Mother Nature sends another storm to the Northeast. But this time, we are going to be a hit by a snow storm – Nor’easter. Though the gravity of this storm has not yet been confirmed, it for sure is going to cause further damage to the dents left by Hurricane Sandy.
It is expected to hit the east coast by Wednesday afternoon and continue through Thursday morning. If you live around the coastal areas of NY or NJ, I am sure your life is already topsy-turvy and the last thing you need is cold weather with rain/snow. But please brace yourself for snow storm, I guess these are testing times and I am sure all of us would get through this and come out on the other end stronger.
According to accuweather, along with heavy rain, strong winds and interior snow, this nor'easter will bring a water rise of 3 to 4 feet above tide level to some areas. A water rise of this magnitude normally wouldn't be as significant an issue; however, Hurricane Sandy damaged or destroyed a lot of the dunes that were in place to protect beach communities from this scenario. With limited or damaged dunes in place, the water will have free reign to flow into coastal communities, especially along a portion of the New Jersey coastline.
I hope, wish and pray that the magnitude of this storm is minimized and does not cause harm to the people of NY and NJ. And for those of us who were not so affected by Sandy, I urge you to lend out a helping hand to those in need. If you not sure how, you may contact American Red Cross and join an initiative that is of interest to you.
