Kitchen Cue

Kitchen is the heart of your home, especially when you are home away home; Check out the small ideas that helped with my new kitchen keeping a happy event.

Make it pretty:

♥ Counter-tops are the platform of your kitchen work and is the place which requires constant cleaning and organizing. I recommend, to have your kitchen countertop lined with attractive liners available in different colors and patterns in walmart, bed, bath & beyond, amazon.com etc. It is a very effective and tested way to keep your countertop free from knife marks, stains, oil splatter, and food spillage. One quick swipe with a white cloth will make it all new and I should point out it you can keep the nuke and corner of the walls neatly covered, keeping it clean from dust and mites. If you are just tired of the old print, peel away and stick a new one giving your kitchen an instant make-over.

P.S. The same liner can double up as your drawer cum self liner :)

Keep your spoon on:

♥ Invest on a spoon/ladle holder which comes in handy when you are busy cooking. Instead of keeping the spoon or ladle that you are using to stir, sortie your food on the countertop if you your spoon holder placed by/on your stove it will limit the cleaning process. They are available in different sizes, cute colors and durable makes.

Throw some light:

♥ Apartments that are usually rented out in the US comes with low lighting which is a big no no for me. Dim lights bring your mood down, it gets difficult to see the amount of ingredients that goes into your curry pot. To get the right color into your food you sure must have, good amount of light. I say, purchase the whole unit of tubes and sockets and assemble them from shops like Walmart and K-mart. So the next time you enter your kitchen you will be all charged and enlightened.

Dry n Care:

♥ I chanced on this novel product during one of my visits to Bed bath & beyond and it is a must have in every kitchen all over the world. I had this purchased and sent it home to my mom and sis since they adored the product after seeing it in my kitchen during their visit. The kitchen drying mat (self absorbent) is available in amazon.com, walmart and Ikea. Shove them under your dish racks and marvel starts to happen it absorbs all the water from the dishes for multiple times and keeps the area clean next to your sink. You can squeeze out the water and dry them when they start to look swollen n oozy. I dry my mats like once in two days, ya! that’s so much water they will absorb.

Board in two:

♥ I ceremoniously keep my vegetable cutter, separate from the board that I use for chopping meat. It is advisable to buy two chopping boards in two different colors preferably and for both purpose. It will help in not getting the flavors mixed while chopping and also if you plan to store the food for future use.
