Dear Sir Whether a Left or a Right bent of economy will lead the US to a faster recovery remains an ideological question as always and it will be enlightening to watch how Obama's policies help the US economy in next four years. However there are some clear indications for India. There is a widespread support for Obama in there. I do not understand why a rational Indian would do that and I blame the mainstream Indian media for this confusion. 1. Obama will attack outsourcing of jobs from the US to India, hurting employment opportunities of Indians in India. Romney was supporter of free market. The cheap labor in India would have ensured more outsourcing and hence more prosperity to Indians. 2. Obama increased restrictions on H1 and L1 Visas and will continue to do so. It has plans to further increase Visa fees. All this will hurt Indians working in US and the Indian IT companies. Indian govt planned to file a case against this in WTO but due to a Foreign Policy which lacks self-respect India still sees China as an enemy and US as an ally (more on this in a separate point). 3. Romney was much harsher on Pakistan and China than Obama. He had plans to attack China economically from his first day in office. Obama has gone soft on both China and Pakistan. Billion dollar aids continue to Pakistan even after Osama is dead and Pakistan continues to prosecute those who helped kill Osama. 4. Obama's soft Foreign policy and decision to withdraw forces from Afghanistan and Iraq will hurt safety of Indian businesses there. 5. Romney would have made American Military and Foreign policy aggressive. Indians are still afraid of an aggressive America due to the prejudices carried from Cold War era. Times have changed. An aggressive America cant afford to hurt India anymore while it may help India counter any threat from China. 6. Under the changed economic polarization India doesn't need to chose between America and China. We can have both of them as ally and that's the direction in which our Foreign policy should
