Donga Naa Koduku Becomes DNK After Censor Objection
A catchy title can sell a film before a single frame is seen. But sometimes, the same title lands a film in trouble. That's exactly what happened with Mouli Tanuj Prasanth's Donga Naa Koduku, which will now reach theatres simply as DNK.
Why the Title Changed
According to Great Andhra, the censor board raised an objection to the full title. Instead of picking a completely new name, the makers chose a clever middle path: they are keeping the short form, DNK, which fans have already been using since the first look.
It's a practical move. The brand recognition stays, and the film avoids any further delay with release just days away.
A Title That Always Got People Talking
The title had sparked debate right from the start. Its colloquial, mass-style flavour grabbed attention instantly, but not everyone was comfortable with it. Mouli himself had said that while the title might seem commercial, there's a lot more to unpack in the film.
What DNK Is About
DNK is a crime comedy with a heist twist. Mouli plays Eeshwar, a B.Tech student who quit his studies and has a rather unusual way of looking at life. His choices land him in a series of funny situations, with robbery and crime adding twists along the way. The teaser, released on October 21, promised a proper laugh riot.
The Team Behind It
- It's produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar as producers.
- It marks the directorial debut of Sreenu Kambala.
- It's Mouli's first big-screen outing after Little Hearts, the breakout Telugu romcom of 2025 that made him a household name.
Having a banner like Mythri back a young actor's follow-up film says a lot about the faith the industry has in Mouli.
Release Date and a Box Office Face-Off
DNK hits theatres on November 13, 2026. Interestingly, that's the same day as Itlu Arjuna, another small film with plenty of buzz. That sets up a fun box office face-off between two youthful entertainers.
Final Word
The name may be shorter now, but the promise is the same: a light, fun entertainer powered by Mouli's comic timing. If it lives up to the teaser, DNK could give Mouli his second hit in a row.
