Hi Padma, It is very hard to draw thin line and maintain balance! I have just come out of that so called nightmare experience with a couple activities.. Needless to say, the issues I face were very different than the ones mentioned above. We were in wrong hands! But, now we are taken care of and our interest & zeal is ALIVE again! My kids are "happy" and excited about what they are doing.. I think, we as parents, should be just giving our kids a platform to be able to experience the joys as well as the challenges of any activity. What they can do or should do, must be their sole decision. May be, as parents, we should probably just give them opportunity to decide what they think is fun, instead of telling them, what is fun! Pushing is often result oriented. Mostly it depends on personality of a child as to how she/he will be able to handle the pressures, without crossing the line of "balance". Challenge is when we are not able to find out an exact definition of pushing or balance, when situations get very demanding. As a mother, knowing our child's potentials and respecting our child's interest, at the same time, is very very very tough...But, it is the willingness and interest of child which actually gets us the results. My kids have taught me that. I am thinking, may be, being a father could have helped me a little bit more! We, as MOTHERS, enjoy too much joy, when it comes to parenting :)). But Yes, I still feel blessed for bringing 2 beautiful lives to this earth and they are very precious to me. I stopped looking at sky to see the stars twinkle, when I heard my both kids laughing and giggling with each-other for the very first time! Their first interaction with each-other as siblings, was priceless to me and that day, I promised myself that I will continue to hear that, no matter what :) Regards, Hetal Joshi.
