Box office is on move with the release of Singam 2 in the theaters of Chennai. The handsome cop story has come back with a bang, expected to gross about 10.5 crores. Surya and Hari, proved to be the most wanted crew, when they stormed the theaters with the release of Singam 1. Like Abishek Bachan who starred the lead role in Dhoom, Surya has broken the image of romantic hero.
It seems that critics show the signs of success for Singam 2. As it goes with any other action block, it also makes a bright display of romantic appeal with the casting of elegant Anushka and the ever-charming Hansika Motwani. Indeed the heat of glazing action sequences are pacified by the colours of the damsels. Soundtracks has scored well with the peppy composition by Devi Shri Prasad. A remarkable milestone for the music director from the city of red bus (Andhra).
While it’s the 4th triumphant project of the trio (Devi Shri Prasad, Hari and Surya), Santhanam leads the movie towards its destination. His delivery of comical tracks hits the monotony caused by the too-much-of-a-spicy-regular-tamil-action block. Added to his ultimate comedy, the dynamic Bollywood singer Baba Sehgal breaks the chances of getting flustered by his wonderful tracks, “singam dance” and “kadhal vandhale”. Both the tracks received a positive score of about 3.0/5 from a critic’s point of view.
Instead of its ever-regular-telugu-style-action-plot, the film scores well after its release at USA, on the 4th of July. Moving at a fast pace and the shoot-locations should be the well-defined reasons behind its success, and the same is predicted in Chennai today (5th July 2013). Especially the action sequences are played safe and well in the exotic places as Kerala, Durban, Joburg, Cape Town and Kenya. Even though Surya receives a foot-tapping jerk with the soundtracks, it sounds real familiar with the previous one.
Let’s wait and watch for Singam 2, to roar in the commercial blocks of Chennai. After all, it’s a must see action block for its long awaited production for 7 months.
