November 6, 2012: Reports pointed out last week that the failure of BR Films's last release, Bhoothnath (2008), has caused grave financial loss to the company. The movie that starred Amitabh Bachchan followed with another flop -- "Baabul" (2006), which also had Big B in the lead. However, if the latest buzz is to be believed, the production house will soon get a Bhoothnath sequel underway.
Nitesh Tiwari, co-director of Chillar Party (2011’s National Award-winning movie), is expected to wield the megaphone this time in the place of "Bhoothnath" director Vivek Sharma.
But, according to reports, Nitesh Tiwari has stated that it is too early to comment on the sequel, and that it will take some time for things to fall in place.
However, Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly confirmed the Bhoothnath sequel, saying, "December-January onwards, I will start (shooting for new) films. The projects in the pipeline are with Prakash Jha (Satyagrah), Sudhir Mishra (Mehrunissa), Sujoy Ghosh (Badla), R Balki (undecided) and Bhoothnath 2. Whenever the work starts on any of them, we would inform you (the media)."
Clearly, BR Films will be desperately hoping that the Bhoothnath sequel makes a big enough opening at the box office to save them from existing financial woes.
