Lifestyle in US – Part 2

Hello friends, continuing on the topic I started in yesterday’s blog post, today I will talk about some more changes that I have observed in the lifestyle of middle class families in US compared to that back in India.

Physical comfort:

In India generally we see if there is summer there is power cut .Recently one of my friend told me that there is power cut of 22 hours in Bangalore middle class family person can’t do anything in this case. In US you have heaters in winter and air conditioners in summer. There are no power cuts except in cases of emergency.

Enjoyment

In US you are free to do anything. Some might like to play board games, some might like to paint, some might like to play guitar, some might like to do archery, some might like to play cricket, some might like to tell stories, some might like to read books, etc…whatever your enjoyment activity is, you have a group of people interested in doing similar things and you can find them and enjoy your stuff without being judged by your peers, family and relatives.

You can throw parties whenever you want to. In India, due to social situations, unless your family and friends circle is care free, open minded, or may be affluent, you may be judged or criticized…Honestly, I would have never even tried to buy guitar, take dance classes, or you cannot throw parties anytime you want to. You are always in eyes of society if you are very bold.

In US there are a variety of gadgets that are not very expensive and that make life a lot easier. Things like dishwasher, washer/dryer are common and found in almost every home whereas in India these are still a luxury. Robotic gadgets like Roomba, automatic lawn mower are also pretty common here and help in everyday chores.

In all reality, many people settle in America not because they are making more money, but just that life is more independent, comfortable and with many options for their version of enjoyment. What do you think of personal life about US than India?
