Darshan Kapadia Owner/CEO at Premier Entertainment shares his views on how New Year's Eve celebrations have changed, what influences us, and what it's like to be in Mumbai this time of the year!

From what I've noticed, NYE parties aren't as popular as they were a few years ago. Most of my friends were dying to go out to a party 5-6 years ago. Now, they prefer to hang out with friends or family or go to a house party. In the past promoters would get together to organize a big South Asian New Year's event. You don't see too many exclusive South Asian events anymore. Instead those same promoters as well as new promoters sell tickets for various mixed crowd parties at different clubs. Crowds are split up and it's not as much fun as it used to be.

In regards to private events, we get a lot more inquires these days. Most of the inquiries this year came within the last two weeks of November and first week of December. That shows that most of these people planned their parties last minute because they figured hosting their own party for their friends and family will probably be better than attending a club event. New Years will always be hyped because its celebrated by almost everyone around the world, unlike most other Holidays. However, I don't know if club parties are as hyped as they once were.
This year I'm in Mumbai for New Years and I've been told by friends that parties out here are highly influenced by the western culture. However, even here people aren't all about hitting up night clubs on New Years. A few people I spoke to said they are getting together with friends and going to places like Alibaug & Lonawala, to get away from the craziness of Mumbai nightlife and do their own thing.
