The Fulton Interfaith Council conducted its third monthly meeting on Thursday, September 29 at the Islamic Center of North Fulton. The meeting involved many members of Hindu and Muslim communities coming together to discuss interfaith understanding and cooperation. Dr. Moiz Mumtaz presented a brief history and outline of the cornerstones of the Islamic faith, and lead a discussion on common misconceptions surrounding modern Islam. Imam Asad Khan, the leader of the masjid, lead a tour of the building that included an observation of evening Maghrib prayers.
Over dinner the council convened to discuss the best methods by which the further their efforts. Greater outreach through a website and social media outlets were considered, emulating the structure and actions of other interfaith organizations around the country, and the coordination of community activities between various religious establishments. Between now and their next meeting the Council hopes to have a Facebook page up, the outline of a website completed, and research notes on best practices from other organizations.

The next meeting of the Council will be in late October. For details visit www.wownow.com
