Gokarna

Still sharing my previous road trip across India yes. After Goa, we drove down south to Gokarna, Karnataka. Gokarna is a religious-centered town on the West Coast of India and is famous for its beaches – Om Beach & Kudle Beach mainly.
We had originally decided to stay at a place called Shastri House, but on reaching Gokarna and calling up the reception AND being spoken to very rudely we thought of looking for another place to stay. While we drove towards the beaches, we coincidentally stumbled across Khushi Farms on the way, swung by to see if there were any vacancies and there were! So that’s where we stayed for 2 nights. 

Khushi Farms is on the road that leads to both Om & Kudle Beach. You drive a bit away from the road and literally enter a forest in which the rooms have been constructed. All the rooms are scattered, each with its own little forest path. There is a general seating area in the centre where your meals get served. They make some lovely local fish and have quite a few pet cats that get all the bones and leftovers. You have your basic amenities like running water, attached baths and meals when asked. But no additional fancy facilities. Its a place to sleep at night. You will need to watch out for insects, mosquitoes, etc because of the terrain the rooms are built in. We were even visited by 2 leeches in the bath. Fun stuff.
Here are some visual treats from Gokarna. First visit was to Om Beach, it is slightly more crowded than Kudle beach, it has calm waters and is sort of in the shape of the symbol ‘Om’. This beach gets its fair share of foreign tourists as well as locals who come to spend family time and some to look at the tourists. You have plenty of shacks along the entire beach where alcohol is served.
