Yesterday was Day One of Maargazhi. The concerts are on full swing at various sabhas in Chennai. People are having their fill of divine music but their stomach craves for more! So, apart from sabha hopping for music, canteen hopping is also on.
Mylapore Fine Arts Club (MFAC) has food catered by Meenambiga Caterers. This is what kutcheriBuzz had to say on15.12.12:
SNACKING AT MFAC
It was Amavasya on Thursday and the Meenambiga Caterers at the Mylapore Fine Arts Club canteen decided to do away with onions in the menu. Vaazhaipoo vadai replaced the onion vada and their sambhar too had more vegetables in it in place of the onions.
"Oh, Amavasai? But the menu looks like a concert without thukkada!" exclaimed a rasika. But his friend who came to the canteen just for a cup of coffee ordered for sevai and vadai too once he knew that the cooks had not used onions that day. The Thanjavur special Ashoka Halwa was hot on sale that evening. Yet, a rasika ordered for a plate of Kasi Halwa, which the canteen manager said will be in the menu on Friday!
Sapad here, we are told is at Rs. 100. Mail us your comments on the sapad."
Hop over to Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha"s concerts at Vidya Bharathi in Bheemasena Garden Road in Mylapore where Sri Mountbatten Mani Iyer"s Mount Marriage Catering Services is doing a fantastic job once again to satisfy the taste buds of rasikas! Having the original South India filter kaapi served in copper davara-tumbler is an experience by itself! And the menu lists out "chocolate dosai". My sweet tooth craves for that and I need to indulge myself... soon!
