I’ll be honest—I spend quite a bit of time on the Internet. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the endless amounts of time I’ve spent surfing the net, it’s that there literally is a website for everything. Here are some links I frequent, ranging from truly helpful to the sublimely silly. Enjoy!

It’s the age-old dilemma—you’re sitting at the theatre, downing your third cup of coke when you suddenly have to pee. You’ve shelled out a good $13 to see this movie though, and don’t want to miss anything. What do you do? Consult RunPee. Now also an app, this website lists all the current movies in theatres and tells you when the best time for a bathroom break is—also what crucial plot points/jokes you missed while you were in the bathroom. Pretty genius.

A sister website to another favorite (Apartment Therapy.com), this website provides helpful, practical cooking tips to everyone—ranging from twentysomethings starting out on their culinary adventures to seasoned chefs. It thrives on contributions from it’s readers, but is well-edited enough to feel and look professional. Whether you’re stuck on what to make for dinner, or planning on renovating your kitchen entirely, chances are you’ll find a helpful article or two on here.

We all want to expand our minds and gain more knowledge. We all want that learning process to be as pain free as possible. Enter C.G.P’s educational videos. They cover a wide variety of topics, mostly focusing on politics and geography, but branch into other subjects as well. The true brilliance of these videos is that they take complex topics and condense them into five-minute videos with not only clarity but also punctuations of humor and cleverness.

Whenever I’m feeling particularly low on inspiration, I turn to this website to boost me right back up. Featuring short lectures on every topic under the sun, TED Talks are informational, motivational and humorous too! You’ll find yourself falling even more in love with a certain topic, or discover your interest piqued by something you’ve never even heard of before. In this day and age when you turn on the news and see only the horrible damage humans inflict on each other, TED gives us an opposite platform, broadcasting the incredible human spirit still found all around.

What’s better than improving yourself and helping others at the same time? This website challenges you to sharpen your vocabulary skills and for every correct answer 10 grains of rice is donated to the United Nations World Food Program. It’s a win-win both ways and one website you won’t feel guilty spending hours on. If vocabulary’s not your thing, they also offer a variety of other subjects to be quizzed on.
