One of the best, and most affordable, places to visit in Los Angles is the Getty Center. Located in Brentwood, and situated atop of a hill, the Center draws nearly 1.3 million visitors annually. While entrance to the museum is free, visitors to the center simply have to pay a $15 per car parking charge.
From the parking structure, guests can either take a tram or hike up the 3.5 miles to visit the museum.
The museum hosts a variety of art exhibits, including currently retrospectives on Queen Victoria and Jackson Pollack.
For those less inclined towards the arts, there are many spots around the museum, including a garden, along with fountains and other architectural sites to explore. The white bricks and modern design give the Getty Center a unique feel.
There are many spots to take breathtaking photographs, with the California sunshine giving everything a natural glow. Tourists can be found snapping away panoramic shots of LA---from the center you can see all the way from the 405 freeways to the Santa Monica shoreline.
Visitors can pack a picnic and find a nice spot under the shade to spend the day. It’s a family-friendly spot as many kids can be seen running around the vast grounds. However, guests should check the website for hours and current events before venturing out. It wouldn’t hurt to check the weather too---as you’ll be spending most of the day outside!
