Jun 2 2017: Sources reveal that Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble were worried about the practice arena given to their team at Edgbaston adjacent to the main stadium, as it happened to be rather small in size.
It is said that some of the bowlers didn’t have enough space to do their full run-up.
India is gearing up for their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 faceoff with Pakistan on Sunday in Birmingham.
The PTI report reveals that Kohli and Kumble were not happy with the size of the arena on the whole.
We hear that the Pakistan team have already got a feel of the main practice arena, since they have been staying in Birmingham over the past week.
India, on the other hand, will only get their outing on the main field on Saturday, before their highly anticipated clash on Sunday with Pakistan.
This may well mean that Pakistan has already got a better feel of the pitch conditions than India ahead of their match.
On the other hand, data shows that India has mostly ruled Pakistan when it comes to ICC tournaments, defeating Pakistan all the way, both in World Cup and World T20s. But India’s only two losses against Pakistan has come in ICC Champions Trophy tournaments.
Considering all the ODIs between the two countries, India has won just 51 of 132 matches (source: ESPNCricinfo). Nevertheless, India has been on the rise of late in international cricket, especially against Pakistan, winning two-third of their contests against their archrival in the last decade.
