Mohammad Bashir alias Chacha Chicago has been one of the most famous pro-Pakistan cricket fans on the planet. One can get a glimpse of this man alongside Sudhir Gautam whenever India take on Pakistan on the cricket field.
Born in Karachi and relocated to Chicago, Chacha Chicago has naturally been a supporter of Pakistan all the way. Interestingly, Bashir has also grown into a huge fan of the Indian team’s former skipper, MS Dhoni.
But what’s surprising is that the longtime Pakistani supporter has now changed allegiance to the Indian Team, even as the rival nations gear up for their much anticipated ICC Champions Trophy face-off.
Chicago-based Mohammad Bashir feels that India-Pakistan matches are no more what they used to be and that India is currently way ahead Pakistan.
While India stands 3rd in the overall ICC ODI Team Rankings, Pakistan has fallen way down to 8th position.
India-Pakistan clashes have normally marked one of the most intense rivalries in the world of cricket. However, Pakistan’s ongoing decline in form has made many fans like Bashir to shift their loyalty to other sub-continent teams, especially India.
Bashir further adds that although he still loves Pakistan, he is more on India’s side now, especially after the fond reception he was given during his first trip to Mohali. That’s how the man is now a complete Team India supporter.
Chacha Chicago also opines that he feels much safer in India and visits the country almost every year.
However, Mohammad Bashir will not be in England to catch the highly anticipated India Pakistan match on the 4th of June, Sunday, as he has planned a trip to Mecca with family.
