June 5, 2017: Sunday’s clash between India and Pakistan has proved that the latter is nowhere near the former when it comes to cricketing dominance.
The match turned out to be an embarrassment for Pakistan, which has always remained a hostile neighbor of India on and off the cricket ground.
What’s evident is that India-Pakistan matches are beginning to lose their charm owing to the huge cricket competency gap existing between the two countries.
After Sunday’s match at Edgbaston, the number of ICC wins for India against Pakistan has gone up to eight.
India once again proved its capacity to send balls into the stands. Batsmen like Yuvraj, Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli left the Pakistanis in awe with their blazing knocks.
The men in blue made it look like cakewalk, winning by 124 runs in a rain-interrupted match wherein the target was revised to 289 in 41 overs.
Pakistan’s batsman had no answers to India’s superior bowling attack. Even Azhar Ali’s half-century went in vain.
For India, Umesh Yadav was the top bowler with 3/30. Other wicket takers include Ravindra Jadeja (2/43), Hardik Pandya (2/43) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who assisted with one wicket.
India had posted a massive total of 319 for 3 with four of its top batsmen scoring half-centuries. Rohit Sharma (91 from 119 balls) and Shikhar Dhawan (68 from 65) set up a firm base for India’s batting show.
Captain Virat Kohli climbed to a swift 81 not out from 68 balls and was part of a blistering 93-run third wicket partnership knock with Yuvraj Singh, who gave a rapid fire 53 in just 32 balls.
Last but not the least, there was Hardik Pandya to slam three huge sixes in his 20 runs knock which took just 6 balls.
