Being single turns out to be a crime , when you cross the threshold (22) in India. The moment I book my tickets, I get pricks all over me. Your aunts and uncles are worried about you being single at 26/29/30, as a replacement for their worst nightmares. I prefer flying visits, rather than breathing tedious family gatherings. I even pray for flight strikes, a week before the dreadful journey to India. I don’t carry designed templates for patterns of love and marriage. So, even, if you ask someone, “You’re 26 and why are you still single?” you’ll get the following replies…

“ I am 26, but I’m still single because I can do grocery shopping as I please. Even, if I want loads of lasagna, I can buy them in a row!”
“I can binge garlic and onion rings any time. I don’t have to worry about bad breath, so I’m still single”
“I enjoy eight hours of “nite nite” sleep; no one to snore!”

“I don’t have to utter white lies to reassure a guy that he looks like Ryan Gosling. I’m happy to be single at 29!”
“I cannot afford to lose clean toilets. Also being single serves the purpose!”

“I am 30, and I’m single because I can be who I am. Not what some Mil (Mother-in-law) thing wants!”
…
Now, are you still brooding over the wonder-working idea of visiting your aunts in India often?
