My name is Sreedhevi & I live in Fremont, CA. Every year we have a theme for Golu. It is a family event for us. My mom & my kids equally participte in finalyzing the theme, hunting for dolls & creating the dioramas.Usually myself & my son are the visonaries, my daughter acts as the creative director & my mom is the executive director :).
Apart from singing & sundal, we also organize a quiz based on the theme.It is usually between the kids & adults & is based on the theme & displays in the Golu. Kids usually prepare well. This year, kids beat the adults consequestively in three seperate groups.We not only make it entertaining but also educational .
My son picked Olympics as the theme for this year.He also helped find the olympic toys online. We even got a winding swim toy & named him Micheal Phelps!. My daughter created the swimming pool .My mom is very creative as well, she made penguins out of egg shells .
We also wanted to display some interesting events from 2012 Olympics . Note the dramatic landing of the queen from the helicoptor !:)
We had 15 + olympic games on display & 3 non-olympic games !
This is apart from the traditional collection of dolls.
Our family enjoys every aspect of Golu. I hope you enjoy the display.
